UB SYNES CALLS OFF STRIKE ACTION

UB SYNES chapter has called off its strike action it embarked on last week. This comes as a result of a series of meetings held by the Pro-chancellor, Prof. Maurice Tchuente and the SYNES body.

According to a communiqué signed June 14, 2013, the strike action was called off as from 9a.m, on Saturday June 15, 2013. Signed by the SYNES president, Prof. Michael Yanou, the first vice –president, Dr. James Arrey Abangma, and the secretary, Dr. Neba Fontem, the move is in view that a “new spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness shall be extended to the students awaiting trial”.

A salient point equally contained in the communiqué reveals that SYNES might “reconvene to reconsider the suspension of the strike in due course, if the good will shown by SYNES is not reciprocated”. According to it, “this could likely affect the forthcoming exams”.
